The Lionel Cantú Queer Resource Center is always excited to be able to partner on initiatives, programs, events, workshops, and other collaborative efforts. We love exploring new ideas and experimenting with possibilities. While we can’t always say yes to every request, we strive to support as many collaborations as possible.
Ways we collaborate
We offer flexible support depending on the project, including:
- Funding support when possible
- Helping with logistics and planning
- Assisting with event promotion
- Brainstorming ideas together
- Combinations of all of the above
- And other possibilities you might imagine!
Centering student voices
Most collaborations are initiated through our undergraduate student interns, as the center is primarily funded by undergraduate student fees. We are committed to centering student voices, expertise, and creativity that reflect our values and mission. All ideas and suggestions are welcome — send yours our way, and we’ll explore how we can help!
Educational outreach
As part of our mission, we provide education to the wider UCSC and Santa Cruz communities about the realities and experiences of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and communities. Some of our ongoing educational efforts include:
- Workshops and trainings on topics such as navigating pronouns and inclusive language, queer allyship and accomplicehood, sexual and gender diversities in higher education, and identity-specific or intersectional subjects. We’re also open to developing new topics you request.
- Resource sheets and infographics covering mental health, healthcare, sexual assault awareness, and other important themes.
- Creative projects like zines, which have become a passionate part of our work. We’re happy to co-create zines or share them through our website and social media.
