LGBTQIA+ Counseling Services
While all CAPS counselors have training and experience working with LGBTQ+ students, sometimes it’s important to know your counselor is queer-identified. Our LGBTQ+ counselors are knowledgeable about intersecting and non-binary identities, polyamory, the coming out process, experiences of homophobia and transphobia, adjustment to college, family concerns, trauma, self-esteem, and much more. INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING: To make an appointment with one of these counselors, call the main CAPS office at 831-459-2628. To learn more about all of the CAPS counselors, go to our Meet Our Staff page.
CAPS GROUPS: Examples of groups that are offered are: Gender Queer Therapy, Black LGBT Group, and QueerTalk. Group topics may vary each quarter. These groups are open to new members throughout the academic year. Group topics, days/times/locations are updated at the beginning of each quarter on the CAPS Groups page.
CAPS CRISIS SERVICES: To learn more about CAPS day and night crisis services, go to our Crisis Assistance page.
LET’S TALK DROP-IN SERVICE: No appointment needed. Let's Talk is a drop-in service offering students a chance to stop by virtually on zoom or different locations around campus for a brief, confidential conversation with a professional counselor to receive consultation, support, advice, and/or referrals. Let’s Talk is held several afternoons a week during fall, winter, and spring quarters (except on holidays, winter and spring breaks, and finals weeks).
